Planning and environmental services consultancy GoBe joins the APEM Group
Since establishing itself in 2009, GoBe Consultants Ltd has built a reputation as an innovative and market-leading planning and environmental services consultancy. Today marks a new chapter in their history as they join the APEM Group.
In this move GoBe will be joining forces with the APEM Group, a world-class environmental and geospatial consultancy which also includes APEM Ltd, APEM Inc, AQUAFACT and Woodrow.
Having studied and started their careers together, and establishing reputations in the offshore wind sector, owners Tim Golding and Steve Bellew started GoBe in 2009 in response to the growing demands of the renewables industry.
Working strategically with developers, GoBe offer professional consultancy support and technical advisory services, providing their in-depth knowledge and understanding of the consenting process to some of the UK’s flagship projects as well as projects in Irish waters and further afield.
The decision to join the APEM Group was driven by shared cultures and a focus on the excellence of service and the potential to broaden their offer to new and existing clients as well as across new territories. Tim Golding:
“Having worked closely with APEM for many years, it was clear that joining forces presented a unique opportunity for us to continue the growth required to meet the needs of the offshore wind industry globally, working with developers to meet the demands of a low carbon future. Being part of the APEM Group is an exciting prospect and we look forward to building on and developing the business as we move forward together.”
APEM and GoBe have collaborated for many years, so the move is a meeting of minds and skills in its purest form.
The APEM Group’s CEO Dr Adrian Williams comments on the latest news:
“We’ve worked with Steve, Tim and the rest of the team at GoBe for several years now so I’ve known for a while that together we’d be the ‘Dream Team’. I’m super excited by this move and believe that the coming together of two such highly respected organisations will provide an offering that is truly unique in the market.”
The future of the renewables industry, especially offshore wind, is bright and the demand for strategic solutions and project-specific experts to support planning and environmental plans are high. The coming together of two highly respected organisations will provide an offering that is truly unique in the market.
Trading as GoBe part of the APEM Group, the team of highly motivated specialists will further enhance the Group’s current consultancy offering and provide additional geographic coverage with offices in Devon and Glasgow.
Following a management buyout in 2019, the APEM Group has achieved unprecedented growth aided by the support of WestBridge. Peter Barkley, Director at private equity firm WestBridge, said:
“GoBe has an excellent reputation and the services it provides are a perfect addition to the world class service offering of the APEM Group. The combination of GoBe and APEM positions the Group as a leading provider to the offshore wind market globally.
It goes without saying, we are delighted to have supported this latest transaction and look forward to welcoming the GoBe team to the APEM Group.”
APEM began life as a small niche consultancy in 1987. Over three decades, it has grown into a global environmental consultancy, providing a comprehensive range of integrated niche services for clients across the world.
